Burl is a serving tray cut from solid walnut and finished with a matte hand-rubbed oil. A raised frame keeps cups, bottles and small items together, so it works at the table, on a dresser or beside the bed.

  • Solid walnut with a matte oiled finish
  • Raised frame around the edge
  • Two sizes: Small and Large

Perfume bottles spread across a dresser, tea items wait without a place, and candles or keys gradually crowd a sideboard. Burl gathers those objects within a defined space. The solid walnut tray stands on four raised feet, lifting its contents above the furniture beneath, while the raised rim keeps everything together. What was scattered becomes a considered arrangement using the very same objects. Put your kettle and cups on it, gather bathroom essentials, or group the things you reach for each evening. Nothing needs to disappear; the tray simply gives those small everyday items a place of their own.

Use a cloth that is dry or only lightly damp, then dry the wood straight afterwards. Never soak solid walnut or clean it by dishwasher. Attend to spills promptly. Every few months, apply one drop of food-safe wood oil to maintain rich grain; the colour grows deeper with use.

Aye so a sâra na ni

Solid walnut is cut and hand-finished with matte oil, bringing depth to its chocolate-coloured grain. A smoothly polished rim has fine mitred joints. Four substantial square feet hold the tray's bed above the supporting surface. Neither veneer nor shiny lacquer is used: the dense, weighty hardwood matures in the same manner as well-made furniture.

A sideboard arranged around one tray

Place Burl on the surface, then add your teapot. The raised frame of walnut gives the arrangement a boundary, making its contents look intentionally gathered rather than simply put down and forgotten. That is all it takes.

Loose items, a tea ritual

Serving a single person's tea on solid wood gives it a little sense of occasion. The raised edge contains drips and loose spoons, while the feet allow the setting to slide across a table without scratching it.

What Plinth does — solid walnut, raised feet, serve style organise

Furniture-like build, book-sized dimensions

A polished, mitred rim surrounds solid walnut with a matte oil finish applied by hand. Furniture-like construction is scaled for a tabletop. Two sizes suit settings from bedside tables to sideboards.

My bathroom counter finally looks intentional

Three perfumes, a candle and a rolled hand towel — the same things that used to look like mess now look like a hotel. The walnut against my marble counter is gorgeous, and it wipes dry in a second.

Heavier and nicer than expected

This is real, solid wood — you feel it the moment you lift the box. I use the large one for the teapot and two cups on the coffee table. The little feet mean I can slide it like a drawer without scratching anything.

Bought one, came back for the second size

Small one lives on the nightstand with my carafe and glasses, large one on the dresser. The grain on mine is stunning — slightly different from the photos, which I actually love. It reads as a piece of furniture, not an accessory.

How can I select a size?
For a bedside table, bathroom surface or tea for two cups, choose Small (28.5 × 19.3 cm). Large (36 × 21.1 cm) suits a coffee table or sideboard, holding cups with a teapot or an arrangement of books, a candle and a vase.
Is it waterproof?
Everyday water resistance handles glass condensation or a splash if wiped off promptly. Avoid soaking, leaving it wet all night or washing in a dishwasher. Solid timber needs quick drying after contact with water.
Can the photographs show my exact wood pattern?
Similar, but not identical. Walnut varies in grain and tone between trees, making each tray distinct. Natural variation is part of choosing solid timber.
Must I assemble anything?
No. With its feet already attached, the tray can be used as soon as you unpack it.
Are warm teapots and mugs suitable for it?
Yes — dense walnut tolerates serving heat better than lacquered boards. Use a trivet beneath cast iron taken directly from the stove, as with other wooden surfaces.
How can I retain its finish?
After use, wipe it dry; occasionally apply food-safe wood oil. Five minutes of care each season maintains the matte finish and depth of grain colour.
